This week we are going to try something different. I have three mega titles out this week, but it's basically the big Two battling each other so without any further ado....
So last week's challengers were:
DC/Wildstorm - Freddy vs Jason vs Ash #1
Marvel - Astonishing X-men #23
Indy - Buffy the Vampire Slayer #8
The Winner was: Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash #1 with the Ash cover being able to beat the other comics on its own. We still have copies of both the Jason and Freddy covers even though I've heard other stores underordered this and sold out.

I wanted to thank everyone who stopped by our table at the Juvenile Diabetes Walk for the Cure on Saturday. We gave out over 800 comics. Our two artists, Jolene Houser (jojomonster) and Scott Shehi (T.R.I.B.E. Comics) worked their fingers to the bone handing out between 50 and 60 sketches in the 5 hours that we were there. I thought I would come up with something to help motivate me to post. So here it is.....every week I'll post up three titles that I have ordered the same amount of. I will post one DC title, one Marvel title and one indy title. I'll track purchases and post the winner of the week here on Sunday morning. Those of you on the North side can participate vote with your dollars at the store. If you know anyone on the North side, please let them know about the store. Everyone else can post their purchases here in an unofficial count. One vote per comic purchased, so it is possible to have three votes this week. There is the possibility of a three way tie if all issues are sold.
DC - Death of the New Gods #1
Marvel - Captain America The Chosen #3
Indy - The Umbrella Academy #2
There you go.

Issue 5 - My name is Arthur......
A few weeks ago, SpazDog Comics had a booth at the Phoenix Cactus Comicon. Before I go into my mess that was a creator sighting, I just want to say that Matt Solberg has done a great job with the Con. Two years ago, we had a booth at the con. It was a one day convention with a smallish retailer. The two main out-of-town guests were Marv Wolfman and Todd Nauck. Not too shabby, but he has really blown the Con up big time. It's now two nights plus a preview night and has a long list of guests in the comic book, manga and anime industry.
So, we set up for Friday Preview Night and a flood of people came rushing in. About thirty minutes into preview night, an older couple walked up to the booth admiring a framed Army of Darkness print that I had customed framed by my friends at the Happy Valley Hall of Frames. They said they really liked it, so I went into detail about the workmanship that went into framing it. Five layers of matting, archival glass, one layer of sueded material matting, custom frame, and customized matte cut to give an "ooze" effect. The gentleman said that he really liked it and that he would be drawing the covers for an upcoming Army of Darkness mini-series. My mind jumped around. Army of Darkness had just ended at issue #13. Army of Darkness versus Marvel Zombies was coming out, but that couldn't be it. So I asked him, "What's your name?". "My name is Arthur...." he replied. Arthur...my mind reeled. Who could he be? Then I realized that Arthur Suydam was one of the guests. "You mean that guy!!!" I screamed pointing to a set of Art of the Barbarian Poster Book prints. "Yes, that guy." Arthur and his wife were extremely nice and forgiving of my fanboy faux pas. I talked to them several times that weekend. Arthur signed some books for the store and took a picture with me. So, it turned out to be a pretty good weekend.
